Prairie Wellness is a mental health and wellness center offering individual couples, and group therapy to adolescents and adults. We also provide Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction™ classes, meditation instruction, and workshops and retreats on self-compassion and mindful living.     Trisha Crabbs, LMHC, CADC

    I am a caring therapist with a down-to-earth style who strives to create a nonjudgmental and supportive environment where people feel comfortable sharing their feelings. I strongly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to assist others on their journey of self-reflection and healing. Together we will explore your life challenges and develop personal goals for lasting change.
    I have specialized training in the areas of trauma and substance abuse. I have worked extensively with trauma survivors. I utilize evidenced based practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help individuals overcome the effects of trauma in their lives. I have worked in several substance abuse treatment settings and have experience working with adolescents and adults who struggle with alcohol and substance use disorder. I have experience in treating depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, anger issues, PTSD and family conflict. I integrate a Person-Centered approach with Cognitive Behavioral interventions, relaxation and mindfulness practices to build skills for change.
    I received my undergraduate degreesand my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Drake University. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

    Susan Heitshusen, LMHC, CADC

    Each person's journey is unique. requiring a personalized approach toward personal growth and a deeper understanding of self. It is my goal to walk a path with you in a nonjudgmental, empathetic atmosphere to help you discover and utilize your strengths, overcome barriers, and achieve mental wellness. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an information technology professional, manager, business consultant, and trainer. This diverse background provides a unique vantage point for helping clients who experience stress, anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, employment/career issues, relationship conflict, work-life balance difficulties and substance abuse issues. I am trained in the treatment of trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which helps address traumatic or emotionally disturbing life experiences. I am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I offer flexible daytime and evening hours.     Emily Smith, MSW, LISW

    I offer compassionate, holistic mental health and wellness care to adults who are struggling with challenges like anxiety, depression, emotional overeating, stress, and chronic pain. I use Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy in my practice. I also teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction™ (MBSR) classes and offer workshops and retreats on mindful living.
    I received my undergraduate degree at Iowa State University and my master's degree in social work at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. I completed my MBSR™ teacher qualifications at University of California San Diego Medical School's Center for Mindfulness and participated in 65 hours of additional MBSR™ training with Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D.

    Zach Pacha, MSW, LISW

    With more than ten years of experience as a professionally licensed mental health therapist, I have an array of skills and services I can offer you. I work with adolescents and adults and specialize in the broadly-focused issues of anxiety, depression, and "feeling stuck", as well as the more focused areas of panic disorder, social anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I will be that person who guides you along the way towards change, in the spirit of helping you move in the direction of a more meaningful life.
    I use evidence-based therapeutic practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with my clients. You can be assured you’re receiving the best treatment available for your mental health and wellbeing.
    I earned my undergraduate and master's degrees in social work from the University of Iowa. I received two additional years of training in CBT for the treatment of anxiety disorders from Scott Temple, Ph.D. at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. I completed the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute, which indicates I have specialty training in Exposure and Ritual Prevention (ERP), the gold standard treatment for OCD. Additionally, I am a Clinical Fellow of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and a professional member of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.     Jessica DeBoom, MA, NCC, LMHC

    My goal is to help you live a rich, full, meaningful life. I do this by creating a compassionate, non-judgmental, and supportive space where I will assist you in exploring your current challenges and goals, help you clarify what is truly important to you, and provide support and tools to help you work toward the life you most want to live.
    I work with adults and adolescents (age 16+), and have experience treating trauma, anxiety, depression, anger issues, stress, grief/loss, relationship issues, and family conflict. I use an integrated approach, creating a tailored plan based on my client's goals and individual strengths/challenges. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), have completed extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and also incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques into my practice. I received my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa and am a National Certified Counselor.
