Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I enjoy working with children (ages 6-11), adults and couples. I provide a safe and comfortable environment where you can discuss your feelings and difficulties. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused brief therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness techniques with an active and direct approach. I will assist you in identifying the goals you would like to set for yourself and provide you with the education and tools available to understand and approach the struggles you are experiencing in your daily life.
When working with children I utilize a team approach due to my belief that parent involvement can make a child’s therapy experience increasingly more successful. I encourage checking in on a regular basis as well as parent sessions as you or myself deem necessary. I understand that your child’s areas of concern can affect the entire family system and I am able to provide supportive parenting and family services through this process.
My areas of specialty include the following: ADHD, Anger Management, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, Child Behavior Problems, Depression, Divorce, Grief and Loss, Marital and Relationship Issues, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Parenting and Family Issues, School Behavior Issues, Self-Esteem, Sexual, Physical, and Emotional Abuse, Stress Management.
I have enjoyed working in the mental health field since 2006 when I received my Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from Drake University and have worked in a private practice setting since 2009.
I accept Wellmark (but not Common Spirit, Mercy CHI Employees, or Value Plans) and most out of state Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans. My self pay rate is $185 for your first appointment and $160 after that.
If you’d like to schedule a therapy session, or have questions about any services I offer, please use the form on this page to request an appointment.
