I am a caring therapist with a down-to-earth style who strives to create a nonjudgmental and supportive environment where people feel comfortable sharing their feelings. I strongly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to assist others on their journey of self-reflection and healing. I have specialized training in the areas of trauma and substance abuse. I have worked extensively with trauma survivors. I utilize evidenced based practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help individuals overcome the effects of trauma in their lives. I have worked in several substance abuse treatment settings and have experience working with adolescents and adults who struggle with alcohol and substance use disorder. I have experience in treating depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, anger issues, PTSD and family conflict. I integrate a Person-Centered approach with Cognitive Behavioral interventions, relaxation and mindfulness practices to build skills for change.
I received my undergraduate degreesand my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Drake University. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
