My approach in therapy is about connection and validating the experiences of clients. I enjoy creating a space where people feel respected, safe, and able to share anything that may be on their minds. The effect of having one’s feelings and thoughts acknowledged and understood is a significant component in working toward progress and relief of symptoms they struggle to manage. I also believe that therapy is a collaborative process and work with clients and families to work toward goals and objectives to allow them to feel empowered to create healthier decisions out of sessions and to gain feedback and support in sessions.
I work with teenagers 13 + and adults who experience anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, family conflict, and difficulty at different stages of life and the changes that come with them. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities that include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As queer woman, I believe it is also important to openly provide services to individuals and families of the LGBTQIA+ community. I’m known for my direct but compassionate way of talking to others and a healthy sense of humor that promotes connection with clients and allows them to feel more comfortable in sessions.
I attended the University of Iowa and completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2014.
I accept Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (but not Common Spirit, Mercy CHI Employees, or Value Plans) and most out of state Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans.
