My approach as a therapist is grounded in relationships and guided by evidence-based treatment. I believe that, whatever brings you to therapy, support and growth is possible through an experience of unconditional positive regard in a therapeutic relationship and setting.
For more than 20 years, I have worked with clients across the lifespan. From developmental concerns in childhood and transition challenges in adolescence, young adulthood, and parenting, to the unique challenges experienced in later adulthood. I provide treatment for children 8 and older, adolescents, and adults with adjustment challenges, anxiety, depression, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD. I also work with parent/child dyads, families, and couples. Working with clients on identifying and establishing objectives towards individualized or family goals is a foundational component of my practice.
I am trained in several therapy modalities including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical BehaviorTherapy (DBT), and Parent/Child Relational Therapy. I have a special interest in providing services to the helping professionals, especially those who work with children and adolescents in education or medicine and to the LGBTQIA+ community.
I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and my Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa. I have an endorsement in Infant Mental Health and regularly provide reflective consultation and training to infant and early childhood professionals.
I accept Wellmark/BCBS and out of state Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans and Health Partners. Please contact me directly if you have another type of insurance. My self-pay rate is $185 for your first appointment and $160/hr. for subsequent sessions. I do not accept insurance for couples therapy.
